Full roof replacement can trigger a green or solar roof requirement

If your project is replacing an entire roof deck or roof assembly (not a repair to part of it), NYC Local Laws 92 and 94 of 2019 require a “sustainable roofing zone” covering most of the roof area with a green roof, solar photovoltaic system, or a combination of the two — this applies to existing buildings undergoing a full roof replacement, not just new construction.
